WHAT BODY SHAPE AM I ?

There is a lot of chatting online and offline about body shapes.

Apple, Pear … who hasn’t heard about it? Haven't you, at least once, stood in front of the mirror and checked you body type?

The question is: are you sure you are doing it right?

Well, image consultants’ experience from around the world say that even if it seems an easy evaluation, 70% of self-evaluations have a wrong result, with direct consequences on the overall image.

Evaluating correctly your body shape is the starting point in improving your image, because only applying the right clothes and accessories, you will succeed in in showing a proportioned silhouette.

So, here it is, the main features for every type, the right way to get to the correct answer.

I. the HOURGLASS body shape

  1. Balance between upper and lower body: good (tip: measure

the length of your shoulders and compare it with the one of your tighs)

  1. Waist: visible

  2. Chest: more or less abundant

  3. Behind: protruding

  4. It gains weight: uniformly

II. the PEAR (TRIANGLE) body shape

  1. Balance between upper and lower body: prominent lower body (upper body appears smaller)

  2. Waist: visible

  3. Chest: small

  4. Behind: protruding

  5. It gains weight: in the lower body

III. the INVERTED TRIANGLE body shape

  1. Balance between upper and lower body: prominent upper body (large shoulders).

  2. Waist: not visible

  3. Chest: more or less abundant

  4. Behind: flat

  5. It gains weight: in the chest and bust zone.

IV. the APPLE (OVAL) body shape

  1. Balance between upper and lower body: appears rather balanced

  2. Waist: not visible

  3. Chest: more or less abundant

  4. Behind: flat

  5. It gains weight: in the abdomen (low and high) zone.

  6. small hips and slender legs.

V. the RECTANGLE body shape

  1. Balance between upper and lower body: appears rather balanced

  2. Waist: not visible

  3. Chest: small

  4. Behind: flat

  5. It gains weight: uniformly.

  6. small hips and slender legs.

To the above, let me add:

- In accordance to the international canons of beauty, the ideal female body shape is the Hourglass. Some of us are lucky enough to be born with it, the other will become one. How ?

Using clothes as smart tools in order to get closer to the hourglass image.

- Not everybody falls exactly into one of these categories.

This is why, for a more detailed and attentive analysis, image consultants do not limit the body analysis to declaring one of the above, but calculating also vertical proportions, whr (waist hip ratio) and other indicators, but mainly taking into consideration the strengths and weaknesses of each body thus giving personalized advice.

… But until we meet for the personalized consultancy session, let’s say it’s enough to at least evaluate correctly your silhouette type.

Anyway, take your test and find out the correct answer, because this is the first step in finding all the other answers that will help you look fabulous, showing off your figure.

After that, follow my “Trend in Translation” chapter, where I will tell you which trends suit your body shape or, even more, how you can make your favorite trend suit you.

Yours,
